Wasted chance by Swordlord3d Wasted chance by Swordlord3d
This scene was restored from digitally scanned footprints which most likely show the unsuccessful Australovenator's attempt to catch a prey (some small Ornithopod). The predator missed but was very close. ) This is an amazing feeling when you can touch these stony messages from the past and try to hear what they can tell you...
Two models from the big pack of creatures we made for Lost Creatures exhibition at Queensland Museum. About 2 dozens of different prehistoric animals from Australia. Hope to find some time to render the rest.

Textured by Andrey Atuchin and supervised by Scott Hocknull.

This is incredible, your skills at portraying extinct animals is nothing short of amazing!
By the way, is there pictures or some form of report about the footprints you based this on? I would love to be able to read it if you have link or something?

Thanks! I worked with the digitally scanned footprints. Not with the images. I'm going to post some renders and screenshots in future but right now I can't do it because it needs much time and the most of the materials are on my old PC. (

This is amazingly done! I really love the colour pattern you've given him (and he even has feathers, what's not to like?)

That Ornithopod looks like it might be tripping over though, so he could still have a shot.

I really like the colour pattern! Reminds me to an african wild dog! One question vlad, its possible the megaraptora had feathers due new classification related with tyrannosaurs?

Many tyrannosauroids had feathers, so it's quite possible )
